Designing the Store of the Future

From a stationary cupboard to the design museum
2016 – 2018

Introduction
Farfetch
Product Design Lead
An open platform for fashion retailers.

Physical retail accounts for 93 per cent of sales in the fashion industry, by 2025 it will still account for around 80 per cent. Physical presence is key but not like the stores of today.
I’m under an NDA for this project so I’ve protected details that aren’t public knowledge.
The issue & the idea
Farfetch is online marketplace for luxury fashion. It is supplied by 500+ independent high-end boutiques around the world.

If Farfetch could understand their customer’s shopping habits in the boutiques they could offer better personalisation.
What we would build
An app for customers to control their shopping experience and an app for sales associates
An app for sales associates to view stock and customer preferences. And store managers to view in-store analytics
A physical 'tap and connect to store' module to allow customers to share preferences or pay seamlessly
An interactive fitting room to allow customers to shop independently from sales associates
An app for customers to control their shopping experience and an app for sales associates
An RFiD powered mirror to recognise product and allow independent shoppers to request alternative sizes
My Role
Research & analysis
If you're going to improve a shopping experience, you'd better understand it
Design & Development
Mock ups of apps for customers and sales associates
Testing it out
Showcase and private beta
The value of Farfetch’s offline cookie is extraordinary.
